Colour wheel and paper weaving with Rachel's GG

Carrie's lesson 7-8yr olds

We started our artday with observational drawing first, using non-dominant hands and then tried again with dominant hands. It was interesting to see better observation in many of the non-dominant hand drawings despite wobbly lines! (sorry no photos)

We had a session on colour theory, producing colour wheels where the secondary colours had to be mixed using the primaries. After this we talked about complementary colours (opposites on the wheel) and the children chose one pair to create a pattern.

The last task of the day was to create a complementary colour paper weaving. Many of the children were not happy to stop there, and made them into kete (bags) or a tube shape. Ka Pai!
