NZ Native Habitat K7

Gretchen's Lesson with 6 year olds

The work will be assembled tomorrow when it in dry.

The children have recently had a lesson about predators in our neighbourhoods. cats-k7. I built on their knowledge and they created a native bush mural, where our native birds and insects live.

They have drawn little bird and insect pictures. They have cut them out very skilfully and stuck them onto a coloured background. They cut this as well, creating a narrow border.

The painted murals have been prepared using black crayon, then acrylic paint. The children mixed their own paint colours, using a lid as a palette. They worked very well in groups of 2 to 6 children. They were very tolerant of others painting attempts.

Checking out other group's murals.

One and a half metres long!
