9 and 10 year olds
The goal today was to design and begin making a poster that alerts people in our local community about the damage predators do to our natives.
With the goal in mind, the children listened to me talk about neighbourhood predators and view websites. Then we discussed ideas and opinions about the subject.
I had three posters hanging in the room and these started a discussion about how effective they were at getting their messages across. We came up with some criteria that their posters should have.
- A message about our neighbourhood predators
- Impact that can be captivating to the viewer in an instant
- Links to further info
The children went on to make a few drafts, choose the most effective and start to create it. Our day had two major interruptions, but fortunately we can complete the posters next 'art day'.
