Maths and Art Collide R8

Gretchen's lesson
6 and 7 year olds

We had half a day of art today, due to a performance practice in the afternoon.
I explained how to prepare a page, ready to rule up a parabolic curve. I introduced the steps slowly and helped the strugglers when it was needed.

More than half the class managed to make a curve without bother. The main issues with the others was numbering the points from the wrong direction and managing a ruler effectively. 

The second piece of art was focussing on symmetry. After working on a practice piece, the children drew and cut out half of their chosen image. They put their two cut pieces back together like a jigsaw. They turned the cut out image like a page and stuck the two pieces down.
