Mixed up animals M12

Carrie's lesson

We started the day with two observational drawings of animals (the plastic variety) which were used as the basis of our mixed up animals. The children had to work out the new name for their creature by using the start and end of the animal's names that corresponded with the front and back of their mixed up animal. This was used as the repeat pattern for the colourful border.
The children went on to paint their creatures with watercolour, adding extra details when they were dry. It was an ambitious project for 7 year olds, but the results were fantastic, and the children seemed very proud of their work.
