After reading Beegu by Alexis Deacon, we talked about the importance of making connections with new people, being friendly and welcoming, which ties in with the inquiry this term. They were all given a piece of air dry clay, a collection of found natural materials and tools for markmaking so they could start making their own creature. Next the children observed their creatures, drawing them in detail onto A4 paper. They were then asked to draw a background that would be the home/ environment in which the creature lived.
Many of the children added interesting details in their designs
and let their imaginations run wild with great results
