Sock Puppets V3

Gretchen's lesson

Introduction by our visitor, Sally.

Sally works at the Mary Potter Hospice. For the past year she has taken some of our students artwork on rotation to be displayed in the Hospice waiting room.

Today she came to introduce the idea of making sock puppets to our children. If the children chose to, they could donate them for Hospice visitors, mainly children to use.
Puppets can be a lovely way for children who visit the Hospice to express their feelings.

She supplied wonderful craft materials for the children to use and a pile of new socks. She said she has been collecting them for some time, from places like the $2 shop.

The most valued piece of equipment today was the hot glue gun. We had help from Pat, a hospice volunteer, during the morning. She was invaluable when it came to helping with sewing skills.

In the afternoon the children created little puppet shows for one another.

I don't know how some of the children parted with their creations. They were lovely. The children were very generous.

Most of the children had time to make a second puppet which they definitely kept.

My sock has been destroyed by my cat.

    1. Maybe have a stern word with the cat. Then bring your puppet into the art room for treatment.
