I took the children to the school flower garden armed with paper, boards and pencils. The weather was less than perfect, cold and threatening rain. We would have spent more time out there if it as warm and sunny.
They sketched the flowers, recording different types of flowers and leaf shapes.
Once back in the warm classroom, the children drew a circle (window) on a page and drew a flower garden, using their sketches.
They repeated this with black pen and proceeded to colour with water colour paint. I gave them tiny brushes which they worked with very skilfully.
