Ancient Egyptian Headgear, M12

7 and 8 year olds.

We continued with the Ancient Egyptian theme. Previously the children had made artwork about King Tut. I think this helped them in designing and constructing his headgear.

We talked about being the designers in a film crew. We imagined making a movie about Ancient Egypt and their role was to design and construct the head gear for King Tut, who fortunately was the same size as them. I gave them a few ideas on how we could base it around a headband. From there they were on their own.

They began by drafting a few ideas and making a mock up in paper. Their final piece was light card and oil pastel. They used staples to make it secure.

Some children had spare minutes to make a little pyramid they could keep things in.
They are holding them in their hands.
