Perspective Names V1

Another art lesson we ran out of time for. Only half the class completed their work. But this class has a lovely home teacher who is going to follow through with the completion. Yay.

8 and 9 year olds.
I introduced the following words and meanings, with the children's help.

Perspective, horizon, horizontal, vertical, diagonal, vanishing point and parallel.

The practice.
The children began by drawing boxes above, on and below the horizon, then drawing lines to a vanishing point from each corner of the boxes.
The next concept was the most difficult to grasp...drawing a parallel line to indicate the rear of each box. Lots of demonstrating happened at this point.

Their art.
They made block letters for their names, above and below their horizon. They put a vanishing point on their horizon and turned their letters into 3D letters.

We went on to discuss analogous, complimentary and triad colour harmonies. They chose one to paint their names with.
