7 and 8 year olds.
I found an excellent lizard/chameleon idea on line. artolazzi.blogspot.co.nz/l
I've used it before. http://gretchenbuwalda.blogspot.co.nz/2012/03/lizards-by-eight-year-old.html
Today, I gave out 'bare bones' instructions. I let the children make a lot of the decisions about the look of their artwork. Colour, pattern, detail, design, layout, composition. They were responsible for the lot.
They made a watercolour forest floor. We discussed what colours they might use.
The made a mock chameleon as it was a little tricky.
They chose their coloured card, patterns and overall look of their chameleon.
They added detail to their forest floor using carbon paper.
They designed and made a rock for the chameleon to sit on. It needs to be displayed over something otherwise it looks like a snake.
They made a baby, if time allowed.
