Complementary Colours R9

Love the smiles.

Great background

7 year olds.
It was School Athletics day on Wednesday. The children could relate to this as a subject for our art lesson.

I had one of the little wooden mannequins which the children used to draw their runners. I asked for two runners in competition with one another. They made a practice drawing, treating the limbs as two sausages etc. On their final drawing they used the practice as a guide.
After drawing their picture using black crayons, the held it up to the window and copied it onto a second page.
They coloured one picture with primary and secondary colours only. The second picture is coloured with the complimentary colours of the first. Skin colour was an exception.

  1. Thanks Hope. It was quite a structured lesson with striking results.
