Painting the cars. V5

Making an observational drawing go the clay car.

Year 5/6, 9 and 10 year olds.

The children made cars on a previous day. clay-vehicles-v5.
They have since been fired in the kiln.

Today the children painted the entire car with a light base colour. They let them dry. I gave them little tubes of acrylic paint, palettes, tiny brushes and a tissue. They set about painting their cars. I suggested colour mixing, fine details and complete coverage.
There was quite a bit of down time while paint dried, so they worked on geometric designs. See geometric-art-m13
I was prepared to spray the finished cars with polyurethane but the good quality acrylic paint was great on it's own.

The complete set of clay cars are posted on the class blog. v5learners.blogspot.co.nz
