Our art day was interrupted by the School Skip-a-thon that was planned for the afternoon.
I had a few children demonstrate skipping, asking them to freeze at appropriate times so we could observe where their body was.
It was a tricky thing to do as it can't be achieved when they are jumping. Still, they did quite well.
The children drew several poses on practice paper.
They chose their favourite and drew it on a large page.
I demonstrated how to colour thoroughly using wax crayons. This was important as the next step was to crush the paper so the wax crayon would crack. Then the children covered the page with dye. I have always had success with this use of materials.
