8 year olds.
This was a very enjoyable day. I was a little concerned that it would not be interesting enough to get the children thinking, but it was excellent.
The children had made little models of traditional Maori meeting houses from a template in their home class. This was a great help.
I asked the children to make initial drawings of a house as an architect would do. The small box I gave them was their beginning.
The little cardboard boxes are used in Asian take away places. I gave them a selection of materials to use to make their little model. e.g.; paint, markers, fabric, coloured paper, magazines, PVA, glue sticks, staplers and cardboard.
And they were off. It was heads down, tails up until 3pm.
