cardboard/foil rubbings

8 and 9 year old.

I'll write "how we did it" tomorrow, it's time for bed now.

Ready now. The children drew sketches of honey bees using photos  for reference. They used them to create cardboard relief boards. I encouraged them to do several crayon rubbings along the way, to see where they could improve their cardboard reliefs.
They covered the surface with glue then added foil. They smoothed the surface with soft pom poms.
They rubbed the foil with black paint and wiped it off before it dried. Some children had to apply several layers before there was enough of a contrast.
They displayed their work on large sheets of black paper. That is a lesson on its own.
