rooster collage

8 year olds.

Decide on a subject that will fill the page equally. We chose a rooster. The image is either created through imagination or observation (photos in this case). The children drew a rooster using pencil. Then put lines through the page to create four parts. Each part was dealt with using a different medium. We used charcoal, watercolour paint, collage and pencil. Options could include Indian ink and sticks, pen or coloured pencil.

  1. wow, these are really interesting and beautiful! i especially like the effect of the mixed media.

  2. Wonderful Gretchen! Love the different textures, patterns and colors in these.

  3. Thanks, this is very absorbing for the children. I have repeated this lesson with a crab as the subject, also successful.
