aboriginal dot paintings.

6 and 7 year olds.
One of the boys in the class has returned from Australia. With him in mind, we looked at the art of the Aboriginies. I gave the children photographs of fish to sketch. They painted white paint onto a piece of gum tree bark in preparation of putting on their dot painting. We looked at a few You Tube clips of Aboriginies working on dot paintings. The children did a light outline sketch of their fish and applied the dots with the ends of kebab sticks. As an extra, the children put patterns on gum tree leaves, a lesson I've taken before.

  1. Love how you painted onto the leaves and bark! They came out great! :)

  2. Thanks, I feel the experience outshone the outcome. It was great fun.
