We have a cultural evening coming up this term requiring a display of art. We also have a calendar fundraiser. A piece of art a certain size from each child interesting enough to hang on a wall for a year. That's 500!
My art planning will have to be very focussed. I have begun by collecting long pieces of driftwood, with the help of our visitors kids. There was a lot of rain last week and the Tukituki river's flow was amazing. So no shortage of wood. The sea strips the bark and the wood dries well in the sun. I have done nothing more than paint them a primary colour. this will provide a blank canvas for the children. My intention is for them to research the use of cylindrical supports used in cultural art. EG didgeridoos.
