Nine and ten year olds.

This work is inspired by Gustav Klimt's "The Tree of Life". It was a challenge. We looked and discussed how Klimt had used pattern and what his pattern was made up of. We also read 'Klimts Cat". The children chose a coloured piece of paper and covered it in "Klimt" pattern with pastels. They practiced making a tree in Klimt's style. This was necessary as it was difficult to cover a page in spirals coming from a central trunk. Then, if that wasn't tricky enough, they had to paint the negative space in black.
