Five year olds.
Kandinsky inspired collages.
The children cut three different sized circles out of cardboard. They wrote their name on each one so they wouldn't loose them so easily. These were their templates. They were given a selection of fabric and coloured paper to choose from. They traced around their cardboard template circles. They put three different sizes together to create a triple layered flower. They used a variety of green paint colours to make their stalks. They used PVA to assemble their work.
We were very short of time today. If time allowed, I would have asked the children to include a variety of leaf and stalk shapes. Perhaps even using the side of a piece of cardboard to dip into the paint to make stalks. Perhaps using cotton buds to apply the paint.
