tiny weavings

Weaving
Six year olds.
Repeating the previous days weaving lesson with children who were two years younger was very successful. I introduced each stage with more demonstration and separated from other steps. The loom the children made was a lot smaller, containing only 4 or 5 warps. There were 4 children who found the alternating "under and over' concept too difficult. For these children I wrote on their looms 'under or over' depending what they needed to do at the beginning of that row. It gave all four children success. The little ice block stick easels have a piece of wire, as a support out the back.

  1. I think this is such a great idea. The small looms can be completed by the children in one session.

  2. For sure, and it gives them a feeling of success.
