koru design

Seven year old response to Reuben Patersons' artwork.
Reuben Paterson, a NZ artist, uses traditional Maori koru designs in a lot of his work. He also uses glitter, which the children enjoy working with too. Initially the children designed their own koru designs, doubling the lines to make them fat. They drew the design on a black page and cut it out, with care. They managed this task surprisingly well. They lay the black template on a page and drew around it. This was painted with glitter paint. Then the original black cut out was glued on top.
