Oil pastel.
Response to a New Zealand artists work, by an eight year old.

Tracey Tawhiao paints Maori images on newspaper, leaving some text exposed. The children viewed several of her works, discussing intent, feeling, images and mediums. They were given pages of the newspaper and chose text which they could leave unpainted, which helped then tell their story. They used the newspaper columns to create sections, and painted the page with one colour. They created their maori designs with oil pastels, once the paint had dried.
